Your first steps with RevPulse

Start with the basics.
Build from there.

You do not need a finished shop or a folder full of records to create an account. Here’s what to have ready, what comes next and what can wait.

Prepare only what you need

Different steps need different information.

Creating an account, completing identity review and publishing a shop are separate steps. Follow the checklist for the step you are working on.

01 · Needed to sign up

Create your account

  • Your full name and an email address you can access.
  • A password of 12–128 characters, entered twice.
  • Read and accept the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

Your business or trading name and phone number are optional at sign-up. No payment card is needed for the 30-day trial.

02 · Confirm your basics

Set up your workspace

  • Your legal name and business structure.
  • South Africa as your operating country; review the suggested currency, date format and timezone.
  • Use the details that describe your business today.

Phone number and industry help complete your profile. A logo, product catalogue and imported records can wait until you need them.

03 · Needed to publish and sell

Complete identity review

  • Date of birth, nationality, identity document type and number, plus the document upload.
  • Residential address and proof of address, including its type and date.
  • RevPulse may request a certified identity copy when the first upload is not enough to complete the manual review.
  • Registration information and evidence required for your chosen business structure.

You can prepare the shop before this review. An adult account holder must pass identity and bank verification before the shop can be published or sell through RevPulse.

Working for yourself? Choose the business structure that matches your situation. A sole proprietor does not need to invent a company registration number. Registered entities may need CIPC details and evidence. Continue workspace setup.

A CIPC company number and SARS income-tax number are not prerequisites for preparing a sole-proprietor starter shop. Publishing does require RevPulse identity and payment approval for an adult account holder. Keep honest seller details, an accurate VAT status and records from the first sale; tax duties depend on the person and activity.

You can add more tools and records as your business grows. These links ask you to sign in if you have not already.

Send your first invoice

Add a client and describe the work. Start manually or ask AI for a draft, then check the details, amount and tax treatment before saving or sending.

Create an invoice

Record an expense

Start with one receipt. Enter the details yourself or use AI receipt capture, then review the date, amount and category before approving the expense.

Add an expense

Prepare your shop

Start with one product or fixed-price service and save the shop privately. Complete payment verification before publishing; every public offer is sold through RevPulse.

Open storefront setup

From your first listing to your first customer

A simple path to opening your shop.

Open Shop → Storefront. The setup checklist explains what is missing before you publish; saving a draft does not make it public.

  1. 1. Tell customers who you are

Choose a shop address, display name, legal name and contact email. Confirm your VAT status. You can add branding, a logo and a longer introduction as you go.

  2. 2. Add a product or service

For a physical product, select it from inventory and review the suggested title, description and price. You can change them. For a fixed-price service, explain the scope, terms and what counts as completion. Check the final price a buyer will pay.

  3. 3. Make fulfilment and policies clear

Physical products need your business or dispatch address and returns, refunds and shipping policies. Set up delivery or collection as appropriate, including charges and instructions. If VAT applies, review the delivery VAT rate too.

  4. 4. Preview, publish and check readiness

Include at least one product or service in the publication, preview the buyer view and resolve the checklist items. Publishing requires an adult account holder to complete identity and bank verification. Every published product or service must be ordered and paid for through RevPulse; do not arrange off-platform sales.

For young sellers

A learner can help build a catalogue for T-shirts or other products. If the seller is under 18, a parent or guardian must own or manage the account, handle the legal and tax responsibilities, and complete verification before the shop is published or accepts orders.

Useful extras, when you’re ready

Product photos, longer descriptions, promotions and extra shop sections help tell your story. When Write with AI is available, use it to draft a description or policy, then check the facts, edit the wording and apply it yourself. AI is optional; you can write everything manually.

The marketplace showcase uses illustrative shops and listings. It does not accept purchases.

VAT, without the guesswork

Not every seller must be VAT registered.

Choose the status that matches your actual situation. Creating a RevPulse account or saving a tax profile does not register you with SARS.

What to choose in RevPulse

If you are not registered and have not established a VAT liability, choose Not registered for VAT. If you are registered, enter your VAT number and start date. Use the pending-liability option only when you have confirmed that your liability has already started; an application awaiting approval does not establish that date.

When to check the rules

VAT registration depends on the sales that count for VAT, the relevant 12-month periods, contracts and your circumstances. Include business outside RevPulse when checking. VAT is separate from income tax and CIPC registration; being outside VAT does not remove other tax obligations.

Check current SARS registration guidance

Unsure which status is correct? Check with SARS or a registered tax practitioner before charging VAT. RevPulse helps organise your records and planning estimates; it does not submit a tax return for you.
